Happy Valentine's Day

Nathan and I spent the day hanging out at home. We watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (go figure), listened to music, danced around the house, chased after the dogs ( we are dog sitting and Nathan is in heaven with them!), colored, and made a BIG mess at dinner!
He has quinoa in his hair

Someone decided he was not going to use his spoon! He is proud of himself too!

He also decided that he needed to share his quinoa with Grizzly

Quinoa and Salmon...messy messy!

16 Months Old

It is hard to believe that Nathan is 16 months old already. Time is flying and he is learning and pushing the limits every day. He is testing boundaries, our consistency, and most of the time he thinks it is funny. Discipline is hard right now because it does not stop his behavior; it just curbs it for the moment. I know that will change, but it can be very trying. He is learning how to put things away, and will bring me what I ask him. He has understood how to do that for a long time because he would bring it half way and then run away. He really loves zippers! In the morning his jammies are always unzipped. He loves the ABC song and will say some of the letters. He likes to count. We count 1,2,3 and he loves to say "two"...and he is almost getting the hang of showing me "two" with his fingers. He likes to sit and read his books. It is cute to hear him "reading" in the corner. He still LOVES school buses. He has one that plays "the wheels on the bus" when you play with it. It is one of his favorites!
His vocabulary is expanding and he is pronouncing his words better. He tries very hard to say the word you ask him to say.
Words in his vocabulary:
Light
Hot Dog
Two
Cat
Car
Cake
Cheese
Hi
Mom
Da (Dad)
House
Home
Duck
Muk (Milk)
Crack (Cracker)
Go
Ut (Up)
Wa (Water)
Off
Horse
Gra (Grandma)
Pa (Papa)
Titi

He knows the sounds of a Duck, Cow, Dog, Cat, Wolf, Camel, Seal, Lion, Tiger, Bear (Oh my!) Gorilla, Monkey, Bird, Elephant, Dragon, and Snake.
He still signs "More" and "Please" but he has begun trying to say more. He understands many more words than he can say. I have a feeling that once his language skills kick in, he will be a non stop talker. He is WAY too smart!

He eats everything in sight, and his favorite food is green beans...but they have to be out of a can. I cannot get him to eat freshly steamed ones; not even if I steam them till they are softer. Some of his other favorite foods are plain full fat yogurt with honey, oatmeal made with applesauce and cinnamon, frosted shredded wheat (Jeff and I cannot have a bowl without him eating half of it or more!) honey graham crackers, quinoa, salmon, pastries, bananas, string cheese, cereal bars, chicken fingers from Wegmans, pretzles, french fries, pizza, and  madeleines,

He is a NON STOP mover! He LOVES LOVES LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!! He tries to sing along with the songs and sings out the long notes....and he knows where they are in the song!

Nathan thinks his chair is a rocker

He has been struggling these past few nights because he is getting his canines in. He has never been a gracious teether and these teeth are worse. Poor boy, but it does not help him if we go in so we have to let him work it out himself which means a lot of crying. I never get used to hearing him cry...it is very hard.

Nathan LOVES cupcakes!

We took Nathan to the barber for the first time. He cried, but he got a sucker when we was done!

If my head was not attached to my body I would not know where it is

Okay, so there are pictures I failed to post from time at home during Christmas. I seem to be forgetting quite a few things lately...and no, I am not pregnant.

My Dad has been playing the guitar for more than 30 years. Many of my favorite memories growing up are from evenings we would spend on the couch singing worship songs while Dad played the guitar. Music is such a powerful thing, even powerful enough to capture the attention of a VERY busy 1 year old.

Family Pictures

It was very special for us that Trevor Stolebarger took some time and did a family shoot for us at San Diego's Balboa Park. Trevor is a wonderful photographer, and also shot our wedding day. If you want to see his work you can check out his website at www.firstkissproductions.com

The Zoo

We went to the San Diego Zoo with Grandma (my Mom) and Grandpa (Jeff's Dad). It was a very fun day and the weather was great.

Nathan and Daddy LOVE goats!

Nathan seemed more captivated by the little girl than with the goat!

Such a happy boy!

WHITE with BLACK stripes? OR BLACK with WHITE stripes?

I do not remember what this animal was called, but the tour guide said that it was rare for us to seem him out like this.

Nathan LOVED this Lion! He kept pacing back and forth in front of the glass where we were standing.
