Day 4

So I did not take a picture of Nathan's rash this morning. When I woke up I had a high fever and did not feel like going downstairs to get the camera. Instead, I took a picture of him eating lunch.

Last week there was a professional photographer at SmallTalkers to take pictures of the kiddos in their Halloween costumes. This photographer gave us this one, and we are going to order the rest. He did such a good job in front of the camera, and was in a really good mood. This was before the drug eruption, and 3 days into the Amoxicillin.

Day 3

The rash has continued to lighten. I did see some scratch marks on his back by his neck this morning so I know he has been feeling itchy. So I administered Benadryl again this morning. I hate pumping him with medication, but I know it is for his comfort. Today is the last day of the antibiotic!

Nathan had a little bit of difficulty sleeping soundly last night. Last night's culprit, I believe, was his molars. These teeth are taking forever...poor baby. I always say that I would rather have a horrific 24 hour period where he would get all his teeth, then this prolonged process. Oh well, I know God has his reasons for the way we develop...I wonder if Jesus was a bad teether like Nathan?

Day 2

Well, to day is day 2 of our drug eruption drama. I figured I would take a picture of Nathan every day until his rash disappears to document his first  "ordeal". He awoke earlier than usual this morning, but seemed to sleep pretty well last night. I am sure that the Benadryl had something to do with that! He has been pretty cranky this morning except for when we went out to Wegman's to pick up some probiotic. He loves being out in stores. He says hi to everyone and is just as charming as can be.  I also picked him up some apples. Wegman's has the perfect "toddler" sized apples. He just loves to eat apples by himself, however sometimes he does bite off more than he can chew.

UPDATE

So Dr. Bryan said he has a drug eruption rash. It is NOT an allergic reaction to Amoxicillin, but an eruption. He said that there is a virus piggy-backing on the Strep that Nathan has....it could be Mono or Epstein Bar Virus or a few others. Whatever virus, it is keeping him ill....poor little man. So, he is now on Azithromycin instead of Amoxicillin for his Strep. Benadryl for the rash because it makes him uncomfortable and very itchy. The rash should be gone by next week. I am really hoping he gets healthy fast.

Second rash in 10 days...

 

So Nathan broke out in a rash yesterday morning. He was in a horrible mood all day and spent most of the day screaming and crying. Last night I took him to the ER because I felt there was something wrong with him. The ER doctor thinks he has an Amoxicillin rash....really? I am thankful that we have an appointment with Dr. Bryan this morning.

These pictures are from this morning and his rash is now covering his entire body and he is very itchy. It is in his ears, it is surrounding his mouth, on his fingers...everywhere except his genitals.

I will let you know what his doctor says when we go this morning.

Trick or Treat!

We took Nathan trick or treating in our neighborhood with "Uncle" Shawn, "Aunt" Cathy, and the "cousins": Caden, Connor, and Chase. It took the twins a few houses to get the hang of it, and then they were on a roll! Nathan walked a bit, but had fun going to the door with Daddy holding him. He held his bucket like a big boy!
