Second rash in 10 days...

So Nathan broke out in a rash yesterday morning. He was in a horrible mood all day and spent most of the day screaming and crying. Last night I took him to the ER because I felt there was something wrong with him. The ER doctor thinks he has an Amoxicillin rash....really? I am thankful that we have an appointment with Dr. Bryan this morning.

These pictures are from this morning and his rash is now covering his entire body and he is very itchy. It is in his ears, it is surrounding his mouth, on his fingers...everywhere except his genitals.
I will let you know what his doctor says when we go this morning.

Trick or Treat!

( Caden, Nathan, Connor, and Chase)

We took Nathan trick or treating in our neighborhood with "Uncle" Shawn, "Aunt" Cathy, and the "cousins": Caden, Connor, and Chase. It took the twins a few houses to get the hang of it, and then they were on a roll! Nathan walked a bit, but had fun going to the door with Daddy holding him. He held his bucket like a big boy!

Strep, a rash and getting 1 year molars

Nathan spent all last night screaming violently. We gave him tylenol, and I even slept with him downstairs. The time he did sleep, he tossed and turned and cried. The rest of the time he spent screaming, and arching his back in pain.  So off to the doctor we went this morning and my poor little guy has strep throat. Strep throat! Can you believe it?! So he is on Amoxicillin.

He also has a rash that covers his head and torso. It is a reaction to the MMR vaccination that he got at his 1 year appointment. I really hope the rash clears up quickly. His doctor told me to give himChildren's Benadryl to help with the itching. It is hard to see his rash on these pictures but he is covered in red dots.

He is also getting his 1 year molars. The left side is ready to pop through any day. So he is getting Ibuprofen at night to help with that. Poor medicated bubs!

1 Year Appointment

Nathan had his 1 year check up with Dr. McEachern today. He did really good. He did not cry as much when the doctor came in. Doctor says he looks great. His top 1 year molars are dropping. He did pretty good with his vaccinations...MMR, Varivax (chicken pox), Fluzone, and Hep A. They also pricked his finger to check his hemoglobin.  He calmed down pretty quickly once they were done with the shots. He said "HI" to everyone we passed on our way out.

At 9 Months his stats were...
Weight: 19 lbs. 3 oz.
Height: 30 inches
Head Circumference: 45cm.

At 1 YEAR OLD...
Weight: 22 lbs. 3oz = 45%
Height: 31 1/2 inches  = 92%
Head Circumference: 47 cm.

Every day I feel blessed that Nathan is healthy and hitting all his milestones! Thank you Lord!!

Nathan's 1st Birthday Party!

We had Nathan's birthday party on October 2, at our community clubhouse. Nathan had tons of fun running around and saying hi to all his friends.

I made Nathan's cake, the cake pops, and the two adult cakes (red velvet white chocolate ganache and chocolate salted caramel with chocolate ganache)

ONE YEAR OLD!!!

My little man,
For 9 long months it was just you and I. I held my belly each night wondering who was inside there, what you looked like, and how I would feel when I finally got to meet you. Would I be a good mother? Would we love each other instantly? Then one year ago, my life changed forever. After a long, hard, worrisome, and painful journey you arrived into this world at 6lbs. 10 oz. You looked so tiny. You had a true knot in your umbilical cord, but you made your way out strong and healthy. Right on time. I remember holding you in my arms for the first time, and I was in awe. My whole reality changed in that instant that I became your mom. Your father and I had truly been blessed with an amazing gift. A gift we would never take for granted, and a gift that we would love every day of our lives like it was our last.
This past year, your father and I have watched you grow so fast. You have developed a love for books. Sometimes I catch you sitting quietly in your ball house flipping through pages. Your favorite is “Are You My Mother?” You love your Baby Can Read videos, and you will sometimes sing along with music. You love to say “hi”. You are walking really well, and really enjoy walking around outside. Every night, you and Daddy have your own bath time routine. If we mention the word “bath” you go straight to Daddy. It is his special time with you and I love to see how much joy you bring him.
We are excited to continue to be your guides, your teachers, and your cheerleaders as you discover the world around you. Know that we will always be there for you to celebrate your achievements and to help catch you when you fall. Know that you have taught us much more that we could ever teach you. The love you filled our hearts with and continue to fill our hearts with each day is something that can never be spoiled and cannot compare to any other love on earth. Each day we are blessed to share with you we cherish you more and more. We want you to know, dear son, that you have changed our lives forever. We will always try to be the best people we can be for you.
Your father and I have learned how to see the world through a different lens. From the amazement and wonder that we see as you discover something new, to the determination and resolve that resonates as you test your limits. We have learned how a simple smile can turn our day around and how discovery is such a multi-faceted experience… for this we are humbled.

Here is a picture of some of your favorite toys...

You love to eat your snack ON TOP of your tent!

You LOVE to sleep with Stanley (that is your dog that Juna gave you for your birthday!), your Taggie, and a blanket.

Here is a picture of pajamas you wear now and two newborn outfits. You have grown so much!

Happy birthday bubs! We love you SO much!!
